Very nice.

Does anyone had new renderings of the first building?  I have emailed the guy enough, can someone else take a shot?

Guess I got there just after you, Richard.  It's funny though because a couple of your shots in the other thread were taken at the exact same locations where I took some of mine.

I would have stayed down there longer and taken more pics, but I was pressed for time.  That always sucks, but it was the first nice day this year I did get some pics.

As much as I like the renderings for the skyscraper, does it bother anyone else that the large crown is what's going to make it the tallest in Cincinnati?  Call it personal bias, but if Cincy's going to have a new tallest, it would be nice for the high-rise to actually have more than 50 floors.

I hear ya.  But with the way things have been for most mid-western cities....any new skyscrapers is nice to get.

Well the 37 story portion is on hold for around 2 years or until 50% leased.  The 15 story smaller portion is U/C.

What's it going to look like at street level?  That always concerns me about skyscrapers.  Are we going to get another barren, windswept plaza?

Bah...it doesn't matter anyway.  About the only action down there right now is the In Between Tavern and cars entering and exiting garages.

Since I seem to be cutting and pasting the entire newspaper today, here's some news on QCS from the 6/11/04 Enquirer:

Building bonds approved
Downtown tower going up at 3rd and Broadway [/b]
By Ken Alltucker
The Cincinnati Enquirer

The Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority Thursday approved $45 million in bonds to build downtown's first new office tower in more than a decade.

Port-issued bonds will cover the bulk of development costs for Eagle Realty Group's $62.5 million Queen City Square project. Eight office floors and a 688-space parking garage are planned at the northwest corner of Third Street and Broadway.

I don't think so.  They have to build the  parking garage which is under and above ground.  I say give it 2 more months and it will actually be above ground.

I took a couple there too, but deleted them when I got home because there just isn't much to see yet.  The Kroger garage project at Vine and Central Pkwy. is further along than Queen City Square at this point.

Nice pic Rich. Looks like everything is coming along quite well. As for the phase 2, I'm sure we are going to see a dramatic redesign of the main tower as opposed to the old rendering. The first phase's facade or design is nothing like the old one. I think they have something in mind at HOK. Wonder when someone is going to leak it out?

Which one of you downtowners can i sucker into acting like a webcam (yes i did see the most recent photo) for someone unavoidably detained trying to complete their second rate education?  I would come check it out myself but Knoxville is a bit of a drive.

The folks at wcpo seem to think people are more interested in their new "building"

I'm still trying to figure out what you're trying to say in that first part.

Then again, I'm not a downtowner so it doesn't apply to me anyway.

Help me out with more frequently updated photographs as I don’t exactly have the ability to go down and take a look for myself whenever I want.

I was merely referencing the fact that wcpo has not included qcs in its list of construction cams

I apologize if I am not up to UrbanOhio standards on clarity at this point...but I will get better with time!

Well...after much deliberation, I decided to write to HOK in a pthetic attempt to get some info about QCS. This is what I wrote and the response I got back...obviously, they don't want to release anything about it. Strange considering everyone has already seen the original renderings. Do they have something sweet planned for us? Only time will tell.

Dear HOK;

I was wondering if you had any information regarding Queen City Square in Cincinnati, OH located at 303 Broadway? This project is currently under construction and was designed by your firm. I was wondering if you have any technical data concerning thi project, specifically, I would really like to know the height for my illustration of Queen City Square that can be found at Skyscraperpage.com. http://www.skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?b7314. I'm sure as you can see, it is greatly in need of being updated and I'm sure that the dimensions for the building are not entirely accurate.

Additionally, do you have any updated renderings of the phase 2 portion of Queen City Square which is to include the 37 story high-rise portion? Any information is helpful and would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Sincerely,
Ronnie Garrett

Interesting to see the responses of architects to inquiries like yours. RTKL send me pdfs of Cleveland's Bank One Center and the Wyndham Hotel, Cesar Pelli emailed a bunch of text info... the local architecture firms? Zilch. Not even a courtesy reply.

And if QCS is over 900 ft., I'll personally lop off that silly 'tiara' and knock it down to size!
