Damn straight! A complete no-brainer. America has got to stop funding other countries' militaries without proper compensation, even beyond NATO. This nonsense has gone long enough. There is a reason our military budget is $600 billion and Germany's is something like $40 billion.

In response to PTD's latest twitter hissy-fit, Nate Silver just NAILED it.

"It can be 'fake news' or illegal leaks of classified information but it can't really be both"

On other Trump issues, even the National Review just came out against Puzder as Labor Secretary.  He might skate by on another 50-50 vote, but I have to imagine that this one has lost enough momentum that it's going to stall out completely.

http://www.nationalreview.com/article/444921/andrew-puzder-labor-secretary-nominee-oppose-confirmation-trump

Of course, NR's problem with Puzder is very different than liberals', but it's an argument that will cut closer to Trump's own base of support: Puzder is from the open-borders-because-it's-good-for-business wing of the Republican Party, which is obviously not exactly going to make him a reliable carrier of Trump's messaging in that arena.

^^^^ When I look at Nate Silver I don't get the impression he's ever nailed anything in his life. However, Julian Assange did just nail it on Twitter:

"Amazing battle for dominance is playing out between the elected US govt & the IC who consider themselves to be the 'permanent government'."

There is definitely a contingent working against Trump, from the inside. I have faith that President Trump will prevail over this corruption.

^ Actually Eichenwald has nailed it again.

the United States is now in a situation that may be unprecedented—where European governments know more about what is going on in the executive branch than any elected American official. To date, the Republican-controlled Congress has declined to conduct hearings to investigate the links between Trump’s overseas business partners and foreign governments, or the activities between Russia and officials in the Trump campaign and administration—the very areas being examined by the intelligence services of at least two American allies.

Congress should do its job.  Jason "the Weasel" Chaffetz is an embarrassment.

Puzder pulls out

Andrew Puzder withdrew his nomination Wednesday to be secretary of labor after Senate Republicans informed the White House that he lacks the votes to be confirmed.

GOP senators advised the White House that Puzder could not pass through the narrowly-divided Senate, sources said, and shortly thereafter the White House confirmed his intention to pull out.

Ram breaks his silence only to (yet again) ignore Flynn and the shady Russian connections, and simply blame the leakers instead of holding Trump accountable. Sad!

More than a bit hypocritical isn't it?  Ram was always the one suggesting that we look at the content of the leaked info and urging us to completely ignore the manner in which it was acquired.

For my part, I think both are worthy inquiries.

^ Ram thinks it is cool to get leaks from Russian collusion and interference in an election but it is terrible to get leaks form out IC showing the leaks were obtained through collusion with Russians.  It makes sense if you don't think about it, kind of like voting for Trump.

This x1000.  I cannot believe how hypocritical Ram and others are.  Ram was completely OK with the info on Hillary being illegally obtained because the content justified it.  But now that Trump is President, the story is not the content but how it was obtained.

This is the most fantastic part of the Trump-Soviet story. Trump is only President because of asymmetric leaking of information from the Clinton campaign but not his (with his tacit endorsement, no less), but now he needs a safe space since it is information about his own corrupt administration being leaked. Can't have it both ways.

Yes, it is a forum.  Where people interact with each other.  And if you are going to talk some BS and/or be hypocritical, whether is is Ram or someone else (me included), you should expect to be called out on it.

Spicer says the rally in Florida is being run by the "campaign."  Since we are already in the throws of an election we should hold off on Supreme Court nomination.  Let the people decide.

Here come the plumbers.  This administration should not follow Nixon's game plan for dealing with the CIA of JFK for that matter.  It didn't work out well in either case.  More leaks coming soon I can assure.

Oh yeah. The tax returns. Those nearly got lost in the sh!tshow. Yes, we still need to see those. Maybe now more than ever with the growing evidence of links between Team PTD and the Russians. Think about this.... Our president has already had to fire both a campaign manager and his NSA due to contacts with Russia. Say that out loud to yourself

45 considered this mission a success.  I'd hate to see what a failed mission looks like.  Maybe if he had been in the Situation Room he might know the details.

Trump going after leakers.  I thought he liked leaks..... both the kind you find on Wikileaks and the kind you get served at a Russian brothel.

Ambassador Haley says that US "absolutely" supports 2 state solution.

Could President Bannon please brief Putin's puppet on the US Israeli policy?  Please do it using Mickey Mouse cartoons.  He doesn't understand anything more complicated because he is functionally illiterate.

President Trump plans to assign a New York billionaire to lead a broad review of American intelligence agencies, according to administration officials, an effort that members of the intelligence community fear could curtail their independence and reduce the flow of information that contradicts the presidentís worldview.

This is tame.  They should probably expect worse than this in the coming months given that the National Security Council and intelligence agencies apparently leak more than the banquet hall at Mar-a-Lago.  At least the Mar-a-Lago guests could only publish Facebook photos from across a crowded, noisy room, instead of the actual contents of the classified files in the entourage's briefcases.

Is anyone watching this press conference? It's a disaster. The president has the mental and emotional intelligence of a child. How can anyone still support this man?
