Cuyahoga County GOP sent out a fundraising letter soliciting donations to help end the Mueller "Witch Hunt."

Enclosed in my response envelope was a handwritten note, saying simply "Have you no shame?"

@eastvillagedon from Max Boot, who spent nearly his entire life until mid 2017 in the Republican Party

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/republicans-hypocrisy-on-racism/2018/08/05/fee52cae-98d1-11e8-8d5e-c6c594024954_story.html?utm_term=.63d1669e4026

"So the right has a point about Jeong. Fine. But where are their voices when a far more prominent bigot is spewing hatred from a much more powerful platform? Friday night, President Trump tweeted: “Lebron [sic] James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do.” Is it just a coincidence that Trump is insulting the intelligence of two smart, successful African Americans? If you believe that, you must also believe it’s a total coincidence that he regularly attacks Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), another African American, as an “extraordinarily low IQ person.”

"The kind of prejudice that Trump exhibits is far more toxic and dangerous. We have a long, ugly history of discriminating against — and visiting violence upon — African Americans, Latinos, Native Americans and Asian Americans. Black people were lynched; whites generally weren’t (though a Jew was, once). Asians were barred from coming here; whites generally weren’t. And while we have made real progress toward a more color-blind society, we are not there yet — and with Trump at the wheel, we are going in reverse."

"So, yes, there is a double standard on racism in this country — and, yes, liberals are guilty as charged. But conservatives are far worse in their hypocrisy, and their actions are far more destructive. Their selective outrage — speaking out against anti-white prejudice from an obscure writer, but not against anti-minority prejudice from the president of the United States — reveals their own chauvinism."

In other huge news, Republican congressman Duncan Hunter and his wife have been indicted by DOJ for allegedly using $250,000 in campaign money for their own personal expenses, including trips to Italy and Hawaii, and dental work.

Per 538, this seat was a pretty safe GOP retention before this news. This could be a BFD in determining control of the House.

The hits just keep on comin'....

After previous denials, GOP Majority Whip Steve Scalise now admits that he may indeed have spoken at a white supremacist conference led by the notorious former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke in 2002. https://t.co/ZPcklE9gUL

^ See I never say this because when you say you left the GOP, the natural inclination is you move over to the other side and become a Dem, which is not actually the case either.

While I have always leaned right, I never actively joined a party because I have never been one who would walk lockstep with their platform.

Although, you are in a tougher position as a practicing attorney where you need to be on one side of aisle or the other when it comes to potential appointments and opportunities and such.
