Poll

How many wins do you think the Browns will have in 2018.  Preseason doesn't count.

0 (Another perfect season!)
1-2 (With a high draft pick we can get our quarterback of the future again!)
3-4 (An optimist would see this as a glass 1 quarter full, not 3 quarters empty!)
5-6 (Really do we have to go over .500 to have a "winning season"?)
7-8 (yeah right)
Some other inconcievable number higher than 8

If he stays clean, I expect Antonio Callaway to eventually beat out Corey Coleman. Maybe not at the start of the season, but he has a burst and YAC potential that can win for him that job. There's a still a long way with these high-risk talents, but Josh Gordon and Callaway on the outside, and Coleman with Jarvis Landry (probably the only reliable WR at this point) in the slot has me excited for the future.

Apparently ESPN doesn't know who LT Desmond Harrison is, or that he signed a FA contract with the Browns. But if he can learn some technical ability (and stay clean) to go along with that dominating physical ability, he's going to be a starter in this league. And the Browns didn't draft Austin Corbett one spot out of the first round just so he can be a utility OL. He has the technical ability that Harrison (and many OL draftees) lack.

ESPN thinks TJ Carries is going to beat out EJ Gaines for a starting corner spot? TJ is good, but EJ is better. Maybe ESPN is getting these two confused because of their initialed first names??

This article was published this morning at 9 a.m. Did the writer Pat McManamon not get the memo that LB Dominique Alexander was waived?? BTW, watch LB Genard Avery eventually win a starting job.

This is a tweet of an Instagram post by Mayfield's girlfriend Emily Wilkinson. Man, this kid's drive. I absolutely love it. So much desire to learn the Browns playbook to leave a bed containing that fine lady. <<sniffles back the tears>> That's my quarterback....

And he actually wears Browns gear around L.A. & drives a Jeep made in Ohio…this Baker Mayfield guy might work out in Cleveland

They're certainly not the same player or person. But if a city loses a mayor to a corruption scandal, you do know subsequent mayors will be (rightly) judged under a closer microscope.

Short quarterback that won the Heisman playing in a major conference partly by running a lot, and doesn't always show good judgement?

Yeah, completely unfair.

yep and that is the crux -- they drafted too many midgets. its not a .500 team despite some media hype. reasonable would be three wins next season.

Ehhh, I'd bet the over on 5.5. But I agree, .500 is asking way too much at this point.

Adam Schefter is reporting that the Browns will be featured on Hard Knocks this summer. Looks like I'm getting HBO.

Browns got Hard Knocks

FTW

I went to camp Friday and Saturday.    Saw a lot of kid activities and of course puppies, but I did see enough to know HK is extremely disruptive.   I almost wished my crew was like we were in 2005 (when we had our very own police officer assigned to us) so we could have chanted some things at their microphones.

I'm convinced they are why Josh isn't in camp and the team either approves or it was their idea.

So, having played in college, the last few years when I've gone to camp, I've seen some demonstrably bad NFL teams and my eye for the game quickly overcame my eternal optimism as a Browns fan.

That doesn't seem to be the case this year. At all.

I didn't think I'd ever be saying these words. But the Browns are loaded.

Myles Garrett x Jamie Collins x Chris Kirksey x Emmanuel Ogbah x Joe Schobert is a FORMIDABLE pass rush. While our secondary is improved, its still average at best, in my opinion. Having a prolific pass rush like that will quickly make them above average.

Our offensive skill positions are also loaded. Njoku will be one of the best TE's in the NFL, soon. Hyde x Johnson x Chubb will be a problem for defenses. Not to mention, Jarvis Landry x Josh Gordon with a quarterback that is accurate. Our offensive line is still green and I think we'll see more zone combo blocks as the year goes on to compensate, as well as a lot of 12 and 22 personnel to leave Vitale or Hyde to block.

I doubt Hue Jackson as a head coach, but with Todd Haley and Gregg Williams as our coordinators, the Browns are in REALLY good hands this year, you guys. If you're a betting man, go find your bookie or take a trip to a sports book and throw everything you have on the OVER for the Browns 5.5 wins.

Agree with your assessment. This is the first time this century the team has NFL-level talent across the board. Really this season is all about coaching, finding out if Hue and co. can outfox the opposition.

Also, look out for Mychal Kendricks and Genard Avery. Kirksey is good against the run but bad against the pass. Collins also gets burned by TEs. Kendricks doesn't and, so far, Avery is looking like the steal of the draft. I'll bet that Collins and Kirksey will eventually lose their jobs.

The OL looks pretty sound. Eventually I think Tretter loses his job to Corbett, although Tretter has bulked up this offseason. Hubbard looks fine at RT and Coleman was a two-year starter at Auburn at LT. He has the length, power and quickness for the position but needs help with his technique. Well, one of the best LT technicians in history is helping him with that, as is Myles Garrett who is practicing against him. The Browns will probably use TE Darren Fells, who is an exceptional blocker, to help Coleman if he shows he's having trouble with a proficient edge rusher. Look for Josh Gordon to come back on or before Aug. 7, which is when a player under contract must report to his team to earn an accrued season for free agency. Njoku is having a so-so camp while Coleman and Higgins are having a good camp so far. I'd still feel more comfortable adding a free-agent WR. I just don't trust Gordon.

And I don't trust Hue either. I'm glad he's not involved in the offensive playcalling anymore. But the guy refused a personal foul penalty last year and couldn't manage timeouts to save his life. He's going to cost us more close games. I'll be amazed and disappointed if he's still the coach after after the bye week.

Pretty interesting in Cleveland. The belief within the Browns organization is they are a playoff caliber type team and will be interested in short term players to help achieve a winning culture in 2018

If ever there were a year, our AFC North division seems particularly weak going into this season.  It could easily be one of those years where the winner of the AFC north barely eeks out a .500 record.

It's funny... the Ravens could go 11-5 or 5-11 and either way I wouldn't be surprised.

Trivia time....

How many times has an NFL team had a winless season one year and a winning record the next?

Only once. The 1922 Columbus Panhandles were 0-8. The next season, as the Tigers, they were 5-4-1. Maybe the Browns should change their name too in order to help bring better fortunes?

The Rams are all we need to see. Going from 2-14(?) to 13-3...
