We finally sweep the Cardinals and I can't be at either game. Its time for Cincinnati to get out to the ballpark with the best team in baseball! 25,000 is not enough, lets get 30k for next game and I will be there.

I should of posted this before the Phils game last night, but...
How many times did Marty reference "Alex Madrid Syndrome" while Hamels was on the mound?

God, this bullpen is awful.  Rick White should be designated for assignment.

Well it's only a 3 game losing streak..;) It's not the end of the world. I'm just glad the pitching has come around. Hopefully it stays. If it does. It's going to be a fun summer.

After years of mediocrity, this is a nice change of pace for the Reds, but I'm doubtful it'll last past the all-star break.  Who knows, they were pretty hot last July and August, and they finally cleaned out the front office and brought in people who know how to manage a baseball team, especially one as rich in history as the Reds.

Yeah, very nice to see the bats coming alive.  It was just a matter of time - and now we just need to keep the pitching going like it was and there will be a real possibility of being strong enough by the All-Star break to see Castellini come through on his promise to go out and buy some help...and then, who knows?

This team just does not have it. I'm sure they givin away at least 6 games already.Tonight was just terrible.
1. we need a closer.
2. We need a major league manager. This guy continues to make minor league mistakes.
3. Worst defence of any team i have EVER seen. And i'm not kidding.
4. At least we are not Kansas City.

I don't know what's worse.

Getting beaten by a guy who wears glasses or the pope (or anyone from Detroit) talking shit.

Great story!!!

Reds revamp diamonds
Neglected city baseball fields fixed for kids

BY DUSTIN DOW | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER

Bill Blevins pours sandy-colored rocks from two paper cups onto a boardroom table at the Cincinnati Recreation Commission headquarters.  Some are small pebbles; others are the size of a golf ball or a cell phone - all collected in minutes from a local baseball field.  Blevins explains his goal: For 18 once-downtrodden inner-city baseball diamonds, he wants to find clay far superior to the dirt that contained the rocks on the table.

Blevins' inspiration comes from the men sitting across the table, who control $130,000 that the Cincinnati Reds Community Fund is supplying to restore the fields.  The money is giving 1,300 kids ages 5-15 on 85 inner-city teams safer, more enjoyable and better-looking fields that can be used more frequently.  Reds owner Bob Castellini has pushed for the organization to be more community-oriented, which is why the nonprofit arm of the Reds initially donated $15,000 this spring, enabling the commission to get unsightly fields ready for play in April.

Response from most coaches has echoed Kelly's. But Frank heard from one coach - whose team plays most games on fields not part of the improvement program - who called the project "racist" because all of the fields are in predominantly black neighborhoods and the teams that use them are made up mostly or entirely of black youths.

"The individual told me we were coming across as looking exclusive," Frank says. " 'When are you going to spread the resources?' Well, nobody is going to apologize for spreading resources to inner-city kids.' "

Is this coach implying what i think he is? some sort of revers racism, because they are fixing up innercity ball parks.
That's crazy and I hate that this city is so quick to drop the race card, It just makes me so sick.

not implying that its the only city to do such, but I'm from NE Ohio and race never seamed to be such an issue as it is in cincy, maybe its me, maybe its the media, I don't know.

Too bad about your nuts, but yeah, June is shaping up to be just about as good as May was bad...

Actually, far better...the Reds went 17-8 in April, then 12-16 in May - but they haven't lost a game in June...

My wife and I are going to the game on Friday against the Cubs for my birthday...want to sit in the bleachers, way over towards center field, so we get a kick-ass view of the river.  Plus as she learns about baseball, she's at the point where she can watch and understand the whole defensive dance the fielders do when balls are in play - backing people up, cut-off men, all that - and that should be easier to see and understand from out there...plus they're the cheapest seats in the house!

Yay, go Reds! Here's hoping they complete the sweep of the Cards tomorrow!

I've been a little more into baseball this season than usual (though still no hardcore fan)... can't wait to get to a Reds game next week sometime.

The bleachers are actually the second cheapest seats in the house.  The seats in the corners (last two sections) of the upper deck are actually cheaper.  I believe bleachers=$10 and corners=$7

^ Those corner seats are the ones my cheap family always goes for.  Still $5 I think, just like the Top 6 at Riverfront!  Cheapest in all of baseball, perhaps?

If ever you do go for those, choose the ones on the right field side so that you can actually see the scoreboard.
