You do realize that he just put the idea out there and that he doesn't actually run a company that's pursuing the idea? Regardless, the companies that are developing the technology have been making great progress. I visited Hyperloop One two years ago, and I'm blown away by the progress they've made since then.

There is nothing approaching a working prototype (i.e. an actual capsule traveling at a high rate of speed), let along a switch track (tube?) high-capacity terminal station, or intermediate station.  The concept is decades upon decades away from existing as anything that can compete with the high speed rail technology that has existed since the 1960s.

Yeah...it takes time to develop new ideas. Your post insinuated nothing was getting done, in addition to Elon having something to do with it. Considering it's only been a few years since the idea was presented...I'd say the progress that's been made has been huge.

Did everyone know that NASA is planning a big research satellite launch today?  Guess not, since they're using a McDonnell-Douglas rocket.

Yep! Watched it live. It was a United Alliance Launch (Joint operation by Lockheed and Boeing)

That should have been bigger news, it was their sixth launch this year.

SpaceX has put up seven since May 1.

^im not familiar with LA but why wouldn’t you have it go to where the purple and red line come together? Then you’d have potential riders from 2 lines with only one transfer to the stadium tunnel.

...because they'd actually have to go under private property, diagonally against the street grid.

This proposal is about publicity, not practicality.  And if you point out how dumb it is, you're the bad guy.  That's how bullies operate.

Tesla Is Said to Be Subpoenaed by S.E.C. Over Elon Musk Tweet

The subpoena, from the Securities and Exchange Commission, comes days after regulators began inquiring about an Aug. 7 Twitter post by Mr. Musk, in which he said he was considering converting Tesla to a private company. In the post, he said that the financing for such a transaction, which would probably run into the tens of billions of dollars, had been “secured.”

Tesla shares, a popular target for so-called short sellers who bet on certain stocks losing value, soared about 11 percent on the day Mr. Musk posted the message.

It has become clear since then that neither Mr. Musk nor Tesla had actually lined up the necessary financing aside from having preliminary conversations with some investors.

If you're in the media and point out how dumb it is, you'll lose stars on Elon's TOTALLY AWESOME AND NOT BIASED MEDIA RANKING SYSTEM!

Just a reminder that nobody who has developed a new American car company since the 1930s has been anything but totally nuts.

This guy is actually somewhat normal:

Per @nytimes, looks like @elonmusk did some texting while driving! Sounds like he's a bigger threat to the public than those serial killers he claims stalk transit.

You think he drives himself? Lol.  Dude's worth $20 billion and oversees self-driving cars.

remember when Elon Musk was going to help Flint get clean water for like two seconds and then he lost interest because he couldn't make it into a big publicity stunt?

Yes. In this thread I posted Musk's "pledge" to help Flint and predicted that he wouldn't follow through with it. I was called "deranged" for even suggesting this.

You people are deranged. Jesus
