Greenfield (pop: 4,906) was to be the county seat of the never created McArthur County which was to encompass parts of Ross, Highland, and Fayette Counties. Even without county seat status, Greenfield is a respectable city today with a beautifully restored town hall and a number of sturdy commercial buildings.
