Piqua (pop: 20,738) is located about 25 miles north of Dayton and is either thought of as a suburb or its own town. Piqua shares Miami County with Troy and usually has a rivalry with it for dominance of the county. While Troy is in better condition (it better; it's the county seat), Piqua has history on its side. The historic canal locks north of the city in Piqua Historic District is the site of the Miami-Erie Canal while the old Fort Piqua Hotel (under rehab) where US presidents stayed. Located along the Great Miami River right off I-75, Piqua is an interesting look back at time. Â
