Over The Rhine is not only Ohio's most "East Coast" neighborhood, but also the most ornate. The entire neighborhood is 19th century and has the largest amount of Italianate buildings in the country. Once the center of German America, Over The Rhine sits just north of downtown Cincinnati. Sadly, the neighborhood is one of the city's most dangerous and is not recommended to be seen at night. Mostly three to five story buildings, Over The Rhine is the home of Music Hall, the home of the Cincinnati Pops, Findlay Market, the oldest market in Ohio, Memorial Hall, and the Main Street Entertainment District, home of nightclubs, restaurants, lofts, and cafes. From Mohawk to Northern Liberties, the neighborhood is slowly becoming gentrified and hopefully will be back to its original splendor in the not-too-distant future.
