• Athens & Ohio University (pop: 21,342) are two cohesive treasures of southeast Ohio. Athens is southeast Ohio's party hub, seeing how the majority of its residents are Bobcats. It is the oldest university west Pennsylvania and it shows in the Colonial and Virginian architecture. The town itself is a drunk man's paradise...errr... an architectural beauty. The Athens County Courthouse is situated on the main college avenue with many, many restaurants, bars, and shops. Located about 75 miles southeast of Columbus along routes 33, 32, and 50, Athens is one of the best college towns in the Midwest (and Appalachia).
