• Wisconsin Dells (pop: 2,418) is a popular tourist destination about an hour north of Madison. The city became a tourist magnet in the 1920’s, official renaming itself from Kiljour City to Wisconsin Dells in 1931 to identify with the scenic dells on the Wisconsin River. The dells is a five mile sandstone gorge featuring several notable rock formations. Today, Wisconsin Dells combines its classic natural and lumberjacking charm with waterparks and outlet malls to create a fun family getaway.
