Jackson (pop: 184,256) takes its name from Andrew Jackson and is the largest city in Mississippi. Also known as Jackson City, the city anchors a metro of 550,000 and functions as the state capital. Known as the Crossroads of the South, Jackson has a pleasant downtown and a couple interesting pre-war skyscrapers including the Lamar and Standard Life buildings.
