Ann Arbor & The University of Michigan are two of Michigan's best known places. Ann Arbor is a very progressive city of 113,271 and a metropolitan area of around 600,000 and shares its consolidated metropolitan area with Detroit (which is about 5.4 million). The city is very walkable and has wonderful street cafes, restaurants, shops, and student centers. Easily one of the best college towns in America, Ann Arbor is the home of the University of Michigan, one of the best Big 10 universities along with the "Big House," the largest college football stadium in the country. The University of Michigan Law School is one of the most beautiful collegiate buildings in the country. Ann Arbor is also the home of Kerrytown, a wonderful neighborhood with a marketplace and some great restaurants. Â
