Portland (pop: 64,249) is Maine's largest city and metropolitan area at around 612,000. It is that state's financial and retail center along with preserving their beautiful downtown, full of shops and restaurants. Attractions include the Maine Historical Society, the Portland Observatory, the Portland Museum of Art, Children's Museum of Maine, and the Harbor Museum. A very charming town indeed.
