Hamilton (pop: 505,000) is one of Canada's largest cities and the "Second City" of the Golden Horseshoe area of Ontario (the largest city being Toronto). The metro of nearly 700,000 has an active downtown, a beautiful bluff, the Niagara Escarpment, overlooking downtown (and Toronto), and some beautiful residential neighborhoods.
