Sandusky (pop: 27,844) is known for one thing: Cedar Point. The idea of having a skyline of 200, 300, and 400 foot roller coasters on a peninsula, with devoted fans, a gorgeous midway, over 60 rides, beaches, resorts, and being the second oldest amusement park in the country, is it any wonder why Sandusky is a famous name globally? The city does have other attractions including a wonderful downtown including the State Theater, the Maritime Museum, the Museum of Carousel Art & History, and the Cooke House, Sandusky is attraction-filled even without Cedar Point. Sandusky is the gateway to the Erie Islands and is the home of Cedar Point, and the locals (and Ohio) are very proud.
