• Put-In-Bay (pop: 128), sometimes referred to as the South Bass Island, is the anchor to the "North Coast's Vacation and Party Hotspot." With a lively downtown all summer long, the island is full of other attractions for all ages. No trip to Put-In-Bay is complete without a trip to the top of Perry's Victory and International Peace Monument. The Battle of Lake Erie between Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry's and Commander Robert Heriot Barclay's British Fleet during the War of 1812, is remembered in this beautiful 317-ft Doric Column; intended to commemorate those lives lost and the peace that has lasted between the US, Great Britain and Canada since the signing of the Treaty of Ghent.
