Painesville (pop: 17,503) is the seat of Lake County. While many historic structures remain, urban renewal efforts created several mega-blocks in the 1970’s, which distract from the city’s sense of place. Today, the city on the Grand River is seeing new investment and has one of the most interesting downtown plats in Ohio.
