Linden is one of Columbus' historically black neighborhoods and one of the largest black communities in Ohio. Once a streetcar suburb connecting Columbus and Westerville, Linden was annexed in 1921 and was a hub (or "pit stop") along Ohio Rt. 3 (the old I-71, which connected Cincinnati-Columbus-Cleveland). The neighborhood went into decline in the 70's and 80's but is now in an upswing thanks to community support and businesses.
