Notice to all lovers of Rockefeller Park in Cleveland: This Sunday's Walk + Roll event in the park has been cancelled because Lois Moss, director of the project, failed to meet city deadlines for permits to close Martin Luther King Jr. Dr.

Bless her heart - I'm hoping to get to one of the later events, and kudos for taking the blame gracefully and simply.

Can a moderator (or the author KJP) change the thread title so the date does not show anymore?

^Thanks.

Just received a message from Lois Moss. It looks like they were able to resolve the issues and there will be an event this weekend.

As soon as I get more info, I will pass it on.

Probably from the same e-mail that Musky got:

Cleveland, Ohio – Back by popular demand, Walk+Roll Cleveland is bringing you car-free days in the park.  Sunday Aug 5 and Sunday Aug 12,  a 2-mile portion of MLK Jr Dr will be closed to motorized vehicles from 10am to 6pm so that people can walk, run, rollerblade, bicycle, unicycle or wheelchair through Cleveland’s magnificent Rockefeller Park and its unique Cultural Gardens. With enough positive feedback from the community, Aug 19, Aug 26 and Sept 23 will also become Walk+Roll Sundays.

The organizers are hoping that the community will come together and share their talents to make the event even more special. All community groups, schools, artists, musicians, youth activity coordinators or senior groups that can create free activities during the upcoming Sunday events are welcome and encouraged to participate.

The project has received tremendous media coverage for this car-free initiative, including a feature in Continental Airlines inflight magazine. With 43,000 employees and over 5,000,000 passengers a month, a large number of people will read about this Cleveland project that promotes community connections, urban neighborhoods, diversity, alternative transportation, healthy living, and vibrant public places.

Sorry. Didn't see your message until now. Glad that a mod could take care of it.

Weekend events highlight Cleveland's Cultural Gardens

Hours: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, August 24th.
1 p.m. -- Miles 4 Melanoma kicks off a 15,000-mile bicycle adventure to the tip of South America.
1 to 3 p.m. -- Hungarian Garden 70th-year rededication ceremony.
3:30 p.m. -- British Garden rededication ceremony.
4:30 p.m. -- Opera performance at the Italian Garden.

The stretch of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive that slices through Rockefeller Park will be closed to automobile traffic most of Sunday. But not because of orange barrels.

Bicycles -- most likely a slew of them -- and numerous pedestrians are expected to crowd the usually sparsely visited park for an event called Walk+Roll Cleveland.

I just purchased a new bicycle on Friday - from Fredriech's on Lorain & Fulton which I highly recommend - and I am so disappointed that I couldn't make this event.
