Official Urban Ohio Avatar Thread
« on: July 20, 2006, 07:50:48 AM »
Cincy and Cleveland have tons of avatars to pick from, even Akron has one!  Columbus, however, is unrepresented... could we please have a Columbus avatar?

LOL!  I was wondering what the Akron avatar was all about!  I thought you may have gone to the dark side.

I wish they would allow more space to work with for avatars. Another board I go to allows 150x150.

You could always create your own Columbus avatar.  Just find a pic of Columbus, crop the part you want to use to a 1:1 ratio and resize it to 100 x 100.

I'm sure there are other ways to do it, but here's what I do:

1. In Photoshop, create a new blank image at the size you want (be sure it's in RGB format with a transparent background).
2. Open the images you want to use.
3. Make a new layer for each image (aka each "slide" of the animation). Or just drag and drop each image you want to use (it becomes a layer).
4. Click the "ImageReady" button, and select "Make Frames from Layers".
5.  Adjust the time/display for each slide.
6. Save the whole kit and kaboodle (images and html) and upload to your web host.

Or you could always ask me nicely ;-)

As we're getting more and more members each day, I thought we could start a thread here for new avatars.

For Columbus:

I'm sorry but this is UrbanOHIO....not just Columbus and Cleveland.  So why is it that this thread is 'New avatars (Columbus and Cleveland).  It would make more sense to be 'New Avatars'.

I'm not sure why this makes me a nitpicking b!tch (I am quite particular/anal), but this is quite obvious.  Why would you label it soley for Cbus and Cleveland.  It makes one think that you dont find the rest of the state important enough to include in the thread.  Its not just Cincy that you are lacking in the title....but the entire state.  BTW, thx for fixing it for me (I think I have OCD).

But if you would like to think that I'm a 'nitpicking b!tch then so be it (I take it as a complement)....go ahead and throw that in their with my 'pulling a Nick Spencer' label.

Its all good :-D

It's your approach. Here I am, taking time out of my day to whip up a few avatars out of the goodness of my heart. They just so happen to be for Columbus and Cleveland.

Instead of being polite and saying "Hey, those are nice but how about some avatars for Cincy, Stryker, etc.?", you say "I'm sorry but this is UrbanOHIO....not just Columbus and Cleveland.  So why is it that this thread is 'New avatars (Columbus and Cleveland).  It would make more sense to be 'New Avatars'."

I appologize....I was a too direct about the situation, and it was very nice to see you help the others out in their requests for more avatars .  As for the HBIC situation I would like to make a request that I am appointed the AHBIC (Assistant Head B!tch in Charge  :whip: )...or associate...vice...whatever.

Magyar, it is close...but that was no blow-up on my part.  Just a simple disagreement amoung forumers..I left it as it was (I should be commended for those efforts  :-D ).
