Kind of off-topic, but I think you are referring to the Metro.  We used to go in the mid-eighties for the drag show downstairs and the great dance music upstairs - New Order was at their peak around then.  Plus they had chalk to draw and write on the walls, which was always entertaining.

I spent many nights at 1313 vine in the late 80's  :evil:There was also a very cool industrial music scene at a (now demolished) building on ruth lyons way where unos is.

anyone know what's up with cue in OTR? Have they folded already? Drove by when I was in town this weekend, and the buildinglooked deserted and there was paper over the windows...but their sign was still up...

I believe it was much more about simple building code issues and even that was simply a way for them to bow out gracefully.  Unfortunatly, those who were running Cue were very young and although they had the help and guidance of Paul Yankee early on, when he was pulled elsewhere the owners just didn't have the experience and know how to see it through.  It was a good run and I appreciate them trying but they are done.

The dynamics of OTR entertainment are changing now and although venues will remain on Main, the entertainment offerings will be much more diverse both in product type and location.  Other forces, including the possible casino and new residential will continue to alter the landscape.

First time poster, very long time reader.  I get all of my inside news from Urban Ohio so I figured you guys would know first, what is going on with the Neons space?  There has been a steady stream of people going in and out of the building and there are people on the outside patio taking measurements and all seem to be getting ready to do something.

I would love to see it reopen because it was by far my favorite place to ever go, at least in the 90's.  If anyone knows anything, please post it.

Thank you,

The Righteous Room has been faring well but it has received several noise complaints from neighbors. Looks like they are willing to correct this (from the Downtown Residents Council meeting).

And that is one AMAZING interior...

I was there last night.  The interior and the courtyard are both very well done.  The whole place is not very big though so I think big crowds would ruin the experience.

I find it odd, in that particular block, that there were noise complaints.  I heard about that the weekend before they opened when they had the Bad Veins after-party.

Perhaps there are some tenants in those condos directly to the South (I knowthey have been for sale for quiet a long time).  That's the only source I can peg for a noise complaint.  It's not like the Righteous Room holds a ton of people or has bands playing.  And the own the condos directly above.

I was there a few weeks ago as well.  It's a pretty nice place but the bar tenders were incredibly slow, and the whole place is pretty small and cramped.  Good addition to downtown.

I remember going to a DRC meeting and hearing about noise complaints for BlackFinn.  It's a nightlife district...it should be expected.

Anyone that bought a condo/apt in that area and is upset about noise is outta their damn mind.

Btw, went to RR and Bootsy's Sat. and both had 15-20 min. lines. If ANYONE says DT doesn't have a nightlife is also out of their mind. Righteous Room's interior and courtyard blew my mind.

I checked out the photos of Righteous Room, and the place looks pretty damn righteous. I could see myself being a regular there as long as it doesn't get too loud or crowded.

Sully’s Sports Bar closes downtown
Business Courier of Cincinnati

Sully’s Sports Bar & Grill has closed its doors after a little more than two years at its downtown location.

Arn Bortz, a principal with Towne Properties, which owns the building at Seventh and Race streets, confirmed the closure and said Towne is looking for a “moderately priced family restaurant” to fill the space.

Eh, good drinks but lackluster food.

that's putting it charitably. It filled a void for chotch that lasted maybe a year or so until everyone upped and moved to Lodge, Caddy Ranch etc.  It certainly is a large place, when you add the back rooms and everything into the mix.

I can't say I went there very often, if at all....but I do remember a horrendous order of disgusting nachos that were ordered during a March Madness party my alumni group had there. blech.

Evidently Towne Properties is glad to see Sully's gone...and that's saying something.  It also sounds like Towne may have a willing suitor for the space within the next couple of months.  Don't expect this space to sit for long.

Twist, former Pigall’s to reopen
http://cincinnati.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/stories/2009/08/17/daily25.html

Twist Lounge, the popular cocktail club that had sat beside the former Pigall’s restaurant, has closed and will reopen – along with Pigall’s – in mid-September.

The former four-star restaurant, which had been operated by French chef Jean-Robert de Cavel, will reopen Sept. 15 as Local 127, said Justin Dean, COO of the Relish Restaurant Group, which owns the locations. Twist, which closed Aug. 15 for a change in decor, will reopen as Tonic Union.

Question, does anyone know about party's on this boat? Someone was telling me that there are some pretty good DJ's that spin and it gets packed? Can anyone post a link or tell me about it?

Sully's downtown closes
By Lori Kurtzman, Cincinnati Enquirer, August 18, 2009

The reason behind the abrupt closing Friday of downtown sports bar Sully’s Saloon remains a mystery.

Even to the people who worked there.

“A bartender showed up one morning and the doors were closed,” said former event coordinator Rebecca Holtman. “It’s kinda shady.”

"We're delighted that they're closed and we're looking forward to moving ahead," he said. "The key is to find a quality operator and we concluded awhile ago that casual American fare is the right fit."

Yeah Randy, looks like they were... delighted to have them move out. As to the reason why, I have no idea.

I have no connections here, but the purely speculative part of me would say drugs were involved.
