I agree with Ronnie because if you look at the the third pic it seem like that on the bottom of the first floor they are going to connect it with the second phase.

i believe that is an exit stairwell for the new parking garage. but the side of those stairs where phase 2 would seemingly connect is being blocked up...not clad in glass. maybe thats a sign??

I think the West side of downtown desperately needs a new skyskraper and if i could pick any place to have it, I would put it by the Hyat.

The Cincinnati 2000 Plan, which spelled out many urban design issues, called for the city to maintain its pyramidal shape, peaking at Fountain Square. It is not a law of course; however for this to be maintained, Carew Tower must stay the tallest or Fountain Square West would have to be built taller than planned. I also agree that the west side of downtown could use some more bulk. The lots at 4th/5th and Plum St. as well as the lot at 3rd and Elm are still the best and most available sites (the latter of which was to be a taller Phase II of Duke's 312 Elm Building (aka The Enquirer Bldg.), they let their option expire several years ago.

I went downtown today and made sure that i was right about what i said. They have that one part boarded up where the stairway is at, I really think they are going to buit it.

I went to the Reds game last night and finally got to see this beauty first hand. It might not be the tallest building around, but it sure does look nice. When I was sitting up in the Riverfront Club I could see the mini-rotunda of QCS peeking through a break in the stands. Speaking of the Riverfront club.....how about the view you get of the Ohio River, Covington, and the Roebling Bridge!!! This was my first game at Great American and I really liked it....just wish I'd had time to explore the area after the game!

I was at the Reds game today. I sat in the SUN-DECK ( in right field ). It directly faces QCS.
Anyway, I kept looking up, trying to imagine that Phase 2 was already build. I could almost see it towering over the stadium like it was really there.
I don't care what anybody says, I saw it in my mind and I think it's going to be AWESOME.

haha. if its as tall as they had planned from the beginning it will look huge there compared with the hieght of the stadium and the other towers in the area. and you'll get to see it from top to bottom as its not tucked in the mass of dowtown but right on the edge

I was at the Reds game last night, and I was doing the same thing. Considering what was visible of Phase 1 over the top of the stadium, I could just imagine Phase 2 looming over the field.

Yeah, I wouldn't be able to afford the Riverfront Club either, but I was given the tickets by a subcontractor we use for pre-cast concrete culverts. The guy we went with paid for everything.....alll I could eat and drink for free!!!!!

Our tickets were two rows up from the Reds dugout....best tickets I've ever had to a sports game (except for secound row seats at a Blue Jackets game)

Can't wait for the entire project to be finished. I wish the building was closer to Carew, but many cities now don't have their tall buildings grouped together in a particular order. Look at Columbus and Atlanta for examples, really spread out.

its wierd that a lot of buildings in cincinnati look short and squatty because their first 3 floors are hidden by some sort of super highway. i have just always noticed that about phase one especially driving fww which is the vantage point from which 90 percent of people witness downtown. does glazing a building of this size usually take so long?

Western & Southern Financial Group, one of the bastions of Cincinnati's downtown business scene, said Wednesday it is bringing 230 jobs from Louisville.

Unlike other corporations that have held out for financial aid in exchange for adding jobs or remaining in Cincinnati, Western & Southern is supplementing its 1,600-person local payroll without public assistance.

"We have not applied for any," company spokesman Herb Brown. "We didn't feel we needed it at this time."

The additions were prompted by the parent company's decision to relocate its Integrity Life Insurance subsidiary from Louisville Chief executive John Barrett said the parent company will save an undisclosed amount by consolidating back-office and sales-support functions with other business units in Cincinnati.
