Looking for video editor.
« on: July 04, 2012, 02:41:12 AM »
I'm in the process of finishing a short movie script which will hopefully be shot in October.

This will be my first movie project and I'm a total noob when it comes to video editing, therefore I'm looking for an editor.

I'll be honest, I'm doing this project with the lint in my pockets and paying only one of the actors(actress actually), everyone else is donating their time. I may start a kickstarter find and hopefully get some funding, this money will be used to pay some of the services, including the video editor.

If the kickstarter fund doesn't come through, it will be difficult for me to pay top dollar for the editing servicing. So, if you are willing to donate your time or cut your rates for this project, please let me know.

It will be a fun experience and I will provide food and drinks for the day of shooting. As the video editor I understand you don't have to be there, but if you wish to do so in order to get a "behind the scene's look", you are more than welcome to. This will also allow you to understand what I'm trying to accomplish with the short.

Thanks for the time!

Joey L.

Hi joey,

Asking for free editing is asking quite a lot. Maybe you could submit your completed film to a local school that does a film editing class and they could work on it? Tri-C does this.

You should also consider posting to NEOHPAL, the Northeast Ohio Performing Arts List, which Fred Sternfeld maintains (local director). There are over 3000 of us artist types on there and you may be able to drum up someone willing to help there.

That being said, having a script that's not even finished and not yet shot, this is not the time to be asking for an editor IMO. Lots of people "plan" to shoot a movie and for various reasons it never comes through. Lining up someone to edit a project which hasn't even actually begun filming yet is a little cart-before-the-horse in my opinion. Who is shooting it? Are you?

Thank you for the information. I'll look into the group you mentioned.

The script is actually finished. I finished it after I posted the thread. I'm now going to be passing it around to people I know for feedback.

I will be the one shooting the short.
Thanks and have a great day!
