288 days of no snow - to end this weekend

"Cleveland's snowless stretch is longest in 85 years"
http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2012/12/clevelands_snowless_stretch_is.html

And a high wind advisory has just been issued for the are starting tomorrow afternoon through late night Friday morning
I was going to point out that we've had snow already, but apparently they don't count dustings.

The Weather Channel icon on my phone has turned from blue to red. I click on it and see, in addition to the wind advisory, we also have a Winter Storm Watch for Friday and Saturday for potentially 6-10 inches of snow. I hope it doesn't escalate to a warning. I have to drive a friend from the Cleveland Amtrak station at 5:30 a.m. to Ravenna in a rear-wheel-drive, 200-hp car with racing slicks. Anyone got a Range Rover I can borrow??

You sir, are an incredibly generous friend.

One of the best parts of being completely car free [and not having to commute in a suit] is having absolutely zero dread of snowstorms.

Based on tomorrow's weather forecast, my suggestions depend on your definition of "friend". If this is merely a good aquantence, give them directions to somewhere for breakfast, then tell them to take the PARTA bus from Tower City. If this is a good friend, meet them at 5:30 with a 6 pack and walk them to the bus (by the time they get down to Kent and then transfer to a bus into Ravenna in tomorrow mornings weather they should be sobered back up.) If this is someone that you have any intention of sleeping with, then suck it up and drive them but be careful.

I'm afraid I'm not so shallow, and that I follow through on my promises. My friend is from college whom I've known for 23 years. I tried to be there for him when his father died suddenly almost 20 years ago and when he lost his job and was in serious financial trouble about 10 years ago. He and I remain good friends, even though we live several hundred miles apart. BTW, he quit drinking before I did.

He also knows where to get the PARTA bus in Cleveland and more importantly when, which is not on Saturdays. He is a regular user of PARTA as he does not have a car. There is a possibility that the Sunday bus from Cleveland may not be operating either because KSU is on holiday break.

Only measurable snow "counts."

I was supposed to go up to Cleveland today for a breakfast.  I was a chicken and turned around and came back.  Not ashamed to admit it.

The snow wasn't/isn't the problem. it's all the idiot drivers that do not know how to drive in the snow.
Although it did not take me much longer than usual (I drive the opposite direction of rush hour), its took many people 4x their actual commute time this morning.

Tell you what, let's talk about a weather girl -- Indra Petersons. She was just hired by CNN from a TV station in LA, and I'm so glad. She is smoking hot! And she also was very knowledgeable in talking about the weather. I'm in love....

I'd be fine with these repeated snows if they'd just let me have a day or two in between of low 40s and sunny for some comfortable cycling. Hopefully the Easter forecasts hold firm.

That was some really wacky weather last night on the north coast.  I left the eastern burbs at 530 and it was 79 degrees.  I arrived downtown and it was in the 50's.  I heard some report that, at some point in the day, there was close to a 40 degree difference between Hopkins and Burke.

I'm shocked at how many people are surprised by the lake breeze. Happens every year, yet we forget about it. Weather geeks like me who live three blocks from Lake Erie know what to expect. For those who are new to the area or are repeatedly surprised by the lake breeze, this is what happens and why.....

I understand this effect, but yesterday was the most extreme I've ever experienced.  There were also drastic differences in pockets of air floating around downtown.

San Francisco is also notorious for similar phenomona. If you know/follow a sufficient number of folks from the bay area your social networks will periodically explode over the subject.

Betsy Kling reported a 35 degree difference in 2.5 miles from the lakefront to Cuyahoga County Airport.

WTAM reported 79° downtown and 46° in Independence the other day.  Probably got it reversed, but it wouldn't entirely surprise me.   Especially since I was leaving Mentor, 79°, when it was reported.
