My mom, who lives in Westerville, is in search of a good butcher shop. It's the one thing she hasn't been able to find since my family and myself moved to Columbus. Any suggestions?

The best one I know is not so close to Westerville. Bluescreek Farm, at the North Market, is great. Dave and Cheryl Smith raise the cattle for the beef they sell; their neighbors raise the hogs and sheep. Great quality, good prices, nice people.

The Hills, on Rt. 315 just north of I-270 is a grocery store that sells Ohio beef and pork. Weiland's on Indianola Ave. in Clintonville also has a great and extensive butcher counter and deli counter, and a lot of other good stuff.

The Anderson's has a very good butcher/meat department - @ Sawmill Blvd. Carfagna's @ 71 and Dublin-Granville is very good too - Italian focused. I haven't found anything actually in Westerville yet.

In the SW side there's Schumman's Meats on Harrisbug Pike and the name of the place west of High on Greenlawn makes their own sausages

^If you're talking about the place across Greenlawn from Berliner Park, that's Falter's, a slaughterhouse and packing plant. It's not a retail butcher shop. But it's a good business with a local orientation.
