When a young chef named Zachary Bruell opened Z Contemporary Cuisine in 1985 in the Tower East Building in Shaker Heights, he did more than launch a culinary renaissance in Greater Cleveland.

He ignited a local revolution in restaurant design.

Comparing table 45 and the like to the crap in SoHo???  He really needs to get out more often.  If he'd said the Meat Packing District (Ajna, Buddakan, etc.)  or Midtown (The Modern, a Voce, the Four Seasons Restaurant, etc.) I might agree.

I hate the city comparisons, because he's trying to justify Cleveland's existence by comparing it to NYC.  Stop already!

Although I agree with you, I think they also do this to give context for people that dont realize or maybe havent been outside of Cleveland much themselves (or dont think that Cleveland can be cool)....   Although maybe not the right example, Soho evokes a certain image..? (whether you've been there or not...)
