Too much competition in the immediate area? I'm surprised since the other sub shops nearby have lines out the door at lunch time.

Side question....What area does the East 4th street Development thread cover because I have seen post on here about projects that really weren't on fourth but reasonably close.

I really hope MRN plans to do something with the Volks building soon. Its not looking so good, and a restored storefront would really make that area look better, and continue the progress of East 4th down Prospect.

They don't own it, that building sold last year for ~$375,000 IIRC

I remember seeing this article last year. Did something change?

The Quiznos faced Euclid Avenue, and will unfortunately be a noticable vacancy on the street.

It actually was in the storefront space on Euclid. I walked by it every day going to the gym. Maybe if they were open after lunch time they would get my money. There aren't nearly enough sandwich shops open past work hours.

Dang, Quiznos is the only subs I'll eat.  Maybe the chain is having problems.  The one by me in Lakewood closed a couple years back.  Although both stores were a bit lacking in customer service, compared to other Quiznos I've been to.  The one on W 3rd seems to do well.

chipotle is going in the former bang and clatter. there is a new gumbo place going in the space next to jimmy johns. It will not be 2 stories, above that space is part of the WT Grant apartment complex.

You are awesome. Thanks! Im glad to see something finally go into the bang and clatter storefront as well. This is better than I originally thought! Two less vacant, highly visible storefronts!

So between Public Square and East 6th, in the last several months, and near future, we added a Chipotle, Gumbo?, Potbelly, Hodges, Colossal Cupcakes, Cleveland Clothing Company, Visitors Center, NoodleCat, and Zoup. I think we see this progress continue to spread.

Yes, there have been MANY Quiznos locations close over the past couple years.  I heard something about they now require all the franchises to purchase any and all supplies through corporate, which has made the cost of operation astronomical.  Don't know if that's true or not.  In the mean time, any Quiznos lovers should be pleased with Potbelly, which, BTW, is open till 7 on weeknights and 3-11 on Saturday if you missed it in the Restaurant thread.  I've been there twice already even though I never set foot in that Quiznos over the course of the past 4 years cause I never knew when the heck they were open!

I'd like to see that progress turn the corner by Potbelly and go down East 6th Street.  There's some empty retail spaces to be filled there.

And then we could start a new thread!  :)

Theres really only one spot that is empty.  Right next to the Baker Building entrance.  Of course this is excepting the monstrosity that is the old NCC office (Garfield or Guardian I think) building that I believe is a possibility to become apartments.  Right now the whole thing with the exception of the PNC branch has been mothballed.

There's two spaces at East 6th and Euclid: one was the old Erieview News and one is just labeled "Printing".

But yes, "Rosetta Center" is across East 6th and now that MRN owns it and is adding apartments, maybe something will happen with the vacant street level spaces.

I had thought that was just one space.

The MRN/Rosetta Building is a actually in between that one and the PNC Tower.  The recent article on converting some floors to apartments identified it as the New England Building (or something like that).  This building, The Guardian Building, is actually owned by Westcore Properties.  They appear to be trying to find lease for the property.  Although they don't seem to be trying too hard.

They're definitely two spaces with the one of the left/south advertising leasing opportunities while the one on the right/north seems to have work going on inside.  I thought that maybe they were just prepping it for potential tenants, but last week I saw some construction workers carrying in what looked to be a large, curved countertop.  Something must be going in there.

Yes, just to the right.  The "Printing" storefront is the one with activity going on.  "Erieview News" just has "This space for lease" signs.

Well good news is that the gumbo place wasn't just a rumor. It's confirmed. Whoever mentioned the gumbo place also mentioned the chipotle going in next door so I'm assuming they are a credible source! Whoo hooo!

CLE Clothing Company was putting up a nice big sign today.  It's their cross bones logo and fits in with everything else on the street.
