Cincinnati: renting in hyde park/oakley/mt lookout
« on: August 25, 2009, 07:29:21 AM »
I am moving back to Cincinnati after a 10 year hiatus in late October/ early November.  We are looking to rent a 2+ bedroom in the Hyde Park/ Oakley/ Mount Lookout/ O'Bryonville area.  Preferably a house or duplex (something with a yard for our dog) rather than an apartment building.  Can anyone the board suggest a website or realtor to help me with our search?

P.S. I already am checking craigslist.

Wow!  Thank you!  Now, what's your opinion on living near Eden Park?  It looks like there are a few really nice renovated places for rent on Cincinnati Apartments Plus that border the north end of the park, but what is safety like in that area? What amenities are nearby?

I'm currently living in NYC (although hoping to move back to Cincy within the year), but some other forum members should know the area pretty well. I had a pretty positive impression of the area around where Victory Parkway begins at the park, although some other nearby areas seemed a little more rundown. Nothing horrific, though.

I just know that on the other side of the freeway, where Eden Park turns into Dorchester, there have been shootings there in the past.  Obviously, that is not the kind of neighborhood I am looking for.

I'm not familiar with the specific area in question, but I know crime in Cincy has dropped considerably within the past few years. Neighborhoods that were unthinkable a decade ago are now seeing a lot of new residents and businesses.

The closer you are to Mt. Adams the better is a pretty safe rule.

That's what I figured.  I don't think the area where this townhouse is located is safe enough for me to walk my dog alone late at night.  Any other advice on rentals in the hyde park/oakley/mt. lookout area are very appreciated!
