For the August Gallery Hop in Columbus, multimedia wizard and 21st century renaissance man, Marshall Barnes, will be presenting more art and video at
Ekklesia. Marshall is the only known musician in the world whose own work has been so heavily influenced by Todd Rundgren's
A Wizard/A True Star album, which is seeing a resurgence in popularity around Europe and the U.S., enough so that Todd will be doing a series of
concerts performing the entire album live beginning in September.
http://www.youtube.com/v/bPpNee2UJdI&hl=en&fs=1& The influence was so strong that Marshall has succeeded in going beyond both the technological, as well as aesthetic frontier that the album staked out, and now stands alone in a new dimension of multimedia experience that he carved out of the
cosmic consciousness.
At this Hop's exhibit, Marshall will feature more music video that reflects this influence as well as his surrealist art that is reflective of the surrealism that was featured on the cover of Rundgren's famous departure album from his previous pop music stylings. Interspersed with his videos will be rock videos he directed for such '80s Columbus stars as
Screaming Urge,
Ronald Koal,
Eurogression,
Judson Leach and
Chris Otcasek son of the founder of the
Cars, Ric Ocasek. As with other presentations of his work, Marshall will have special glasses available for the public to view both his own art, and others, during the Ekklesia opening, that will reveal new visual dimensions to it.
Marshall's work will be viewable from 6 PM to 9 PM Saturday, August 1st. His exhibit is sponsored by
