I wouldn't call it "architectural rape" given this statement from the auction web-site --

Only the furnishings and items that have no attached value to the house are being sold. Surely one cannot expect items such as clothes and furniture to remain if the owner is wishing to modernize the house -- whatever that may entail whether that is full restoration or complete gutting.
