Here's the word from Wonder Bar on the forum:

"I really appreciate your inquiry.  Wonder Bar does try to support Cleveland and its locally derived successes.

I would be thrilled to have you guys for a happy hour at the bar.  I would also love to offer you some specials, but our happy hour is so killer already, you don't really need any!

The menu has recently changed for the season, too, so you guys can check that out.  Our new happy hour food is chili - $3 a bowl.  Maybe I can throw a pizza or two your way to show my appreciation.  Those are new, too, no longer on flat bread but bigger and on pizza crust.

I'll be there, too, so you can put a face to the name.

Let me know if this sounds good and how many people you might have so I can save you some spots!

Valerie"

Well, the grand opening is at 8pm.  We/you could always walk over afterwards.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

No. Two reasons.
Ex-wife works there and I have the kids this week with no sitter (plus it is soccer night).

At this point, we have anywhere from six to nine people attending.  Some folks said they were coming via IM, and we have a few non-UO, but pro-Cleveland people planning to attend.

I wouldn't mind walking over to Cadillac Ranch after Wonder Bar.

Whatever happened to BelievelandD anyways?  It shows he's a guest now.

Along those lines, what happened to the pope?  Is he in exile somewhere?  Will there be a plume of white smoke out of the Terminal Tower when a new "the pope" is named?

Moved to Chicago, and there will not be a new "the pope". When "the pope" returns, he will retain his Mod status, etc. :-)

I might be able to stop by, but I know I have to drop my girlfriend off at the airport sometime early tomorrow evening, so I would be running late.  How would I recognize the group and what time do you think you would be going over to the Ranch?

The grand opening at Cadillac Ranch is 8pm.  I'm on board for going over there after the Wonder Bar.  If you really want, I can PM my cell number to you and you can either call or text so that I can help you find the group.

Valerie at Wonder Bar has set aside about 7-9 spots for us.  I wouldn't want her to have to go through all of that trouble of accommodating us, then we tell her we'd prefer not to be in that particular place.  That's not a "no," but more of a "we'll see."  Hope that's cool with you guys.

Valerie will be around tonight, too, though I think she'll just be popping in to meet everyone and occasionally see how we're doing.

Thanks to everyone who showed up - it was great to see you all - some for the first time, others for yet another time. It was a beautiful night on East 4th, and a very very busy night at Cadillac Ranch (my partner and I opted out but hopefully the others will fill us in).

I thoroughly enjoyed the UO Happy Hour!  Thanks for Murray Hill, exspectator, jar3232, BK, and Mayday for coming out and being great company.

We will do it again soon!  :-D

BK, Murray Hill, exspectator, Jar3232, and I walked over to Cadillac Ranch around 8:30pm.  I think we were all surprised at how large the place is.  It's pretty gigantic, and has seven full bars in it.

The front portion, which was decked out in all kinds of americana, was filled pretty well.  But I wouldn't say it was packed.  The back portion, Barroom Cleveland, is the dance club part.  Again, it was large and somewhat empty.  The few people on the dance floor weren't necessarily the crowd you'd see at any place on West 6th (read: older and much less attractive).  The martini bar seemed to be about the same size as the Wonder Bar.

The place sort of did feel like Applebee's.  I probably wouldn't go back unless someone I was with really wanted to stop.  Other folks seemed to think that the place won't be able to sustain itself just because of the sheer size of it.

That basically sums up how I feel.

It was great to meet everyone and I had a great time.  I agree at the caddy ranch.  Luckily the protesters gave it some much needed publicity, sooo more people know about it now.  But the place is frikin HUGE.
