Baton Rouge didn't really tickle my fancy, but it is what it is.  Here is the downtown that has a few museums, lots of government buildings (capital of Louisiana) and a so-so street life.  Nothing to write home about...

1. I was surprised that this was the only bridge visible over the Mississippi in Baton Rouge.  Nothing special

2. Boomtown Baton Rouge...don't get too excited, these are all government buildings going up.

Nice shots of a very odd-looking landscape.

Your Atlanta and assorted southern cities threads always make me so greatful I was born in the gritty, industrial, (sometimes) gloomy north.

I'll take the rustbelt over the sunbelt everytime.

Looks like an interesting enough place.  What's the castle-like building?

Hey Rando, did you happen to notice if they were in the process of constructing the residential high-rise near the river when you were there? Supposed to be Baton's new tallest. When I went last year, it was just an empty gravel lot and a sign.

That's the old Louisiana State Capital (which I went to years ago).  I haven't been to Baton Rouge in a while but it looks the same, though I will say Po Boys > Subs.

There were two non-governmental projects that I noticed.  One was near the Roux place, it was a midrise and was underway.  The other looked larger and probably is what you're referring to, but it was nothing more than a sign.
